Per person group price: £75
Plein Air Printmaking Days.
Oliver has been running arts courses, holidays and excursions since 1995. With groups of approximately ten people Oliver’s broad artistic skills and one-to-one tuition ensure a unique experience, with many people returning annually.
These tailor made print making courses provide ideal opportunities for making new friendships, exploring and exchanging creative ideas and enjoying some of the most beautiful places in the world. To date Oliver has run Plein Air Printmaking courses in both the U.K and also further afield in other European locations.
‘Plein Air Printmaking in Cornwall’, will give you the experience of mobile printmaking out in the wilds of West Cornwall. This printmaking experience is suitable for beginners and specialists alike. Over the days you book, you will get to see the true diversity of the landscape in the Penwith area.
When based on a smallholding near Lymmington, ‘Plein Air Printmaking in The New Forest’ gives us the opportunity to make etchings in the ancient woods and beautiful heathlands of south west Hampshire and the surrounding areas towards the Dorset coast, as well as a goat or two! ( Prices for this course may differ slightly.)
With the use of the mobile workshop facilities you will be working directly in the countryside preparing, making and proofing images without leaving the chosen location. Three printing presses will be available enabling you to experiment with a number of Printmaking processes, such as engraving and drypoint, etching, woodblock and monoprinting techniques.
Tuition
Tuition is made available on an individual basis to further encourage your preferred approach. The beauty of this experience allows people to work at their own pace. Most people will return home with the experience of different printmaking processes, multiple proofs showing the process, or sometimes a part edition ready for sale in their next show.
Taking the normal Plein Air Printmaking approach, we will be making final decisions on choice of location for the day making the most of prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions on either coast or an inland location. A suggested structure of the days will be discussed on arrival allowing all participants to register their interest in their preferred locations.
Materials
Materials will be available to purchase as used. The average daily cost for materials is around £8.50 per day. Please feel free to bring your own preferred arts materials as well as an A3 sketchpad and a range of pencils eg: H + B + 2B + 6B + EE pencils. However this is not an essential requirement.
Please do not hesitate to contact Oliver for advice on materials.
